TMS for Mental Health
Just. Feel. Better.
Safe, effective, drug-free treatment for depression, anxiety, PTSD and OCD.
Major Depressive Disorder, anxiety, PTSD and OCD are common and debilitating mood disorders. These illnesses and their symptoms are as exhausting as they are challenging. TMS is an evidence-based treatment proven to treat these mood disorders with high rates of effectiveness, and without the major side effects often found in pharmacology.
TMS Treatment for Mental Health

Depression
Depression is a serious illness and a leading cause of disability in Canada. TMS has been Health Canada approved for the treatment of depression since 2002, with high remission and response rates and next to no side effects.

Anxiety
One of the most common mood disorders, affecting up to 1 in 4 Canadians. TMS has been shown effective in treating Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or anxiety comorbid with depression.

PTSD
A psychiatric disorder that can occur after direct or indirect exposure to a traumatic event. TMS has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing and/or eliminating the symptoms of PTSD.

OCD
Characterized by unreasonable thoughts and fears (obsessions) leading to repetitive behaviour (compulsions). Optimind uses MagVenture TMS, FDA approved in the treatment of OCD.

How TMS works
Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a safe, non-invasive brain stimulation technology, originally approved by Health Canada for the treatment of depression in 2002. It uses MRI-strength magnetic pulses to induce small electrical currents in a designated focal area of the brain. Applied repeatedly, these pulses strengthen or weaken the connections between neurons. TMS is painless, with no systemic side effects and minimal risk, an evidence-based treatment used around the world.
